Before we start making candles you should gather your supplies, now as you advance in candle making you are going to want to invest in the proper materials but seeing as how you are just starting out all that you need is as follows: a boiling pot, candle wax, an empty soup can (the bigger the better), wick, wick tab, glass jar, carving knife, spoon, and a thermometer. Now if you want some scented oils and some color dye then go for it!
Now that you have everything that you need here are the steps for the candle making how to:
Step # 1. Start by cutting the wax in to chunks, the wax can be hard at first but you will notice that it will break apart easily the more you cut it. Now place all of the chunks in to the empty soup can, make sure it is clean and dry before you put the wax in.
Step # 2. Now take the boiling pot and fill it half way up with water. Place the soup can with the wax inside the boiling pot and bring the water to a boil.
Step # 3. Make sure that you stir the wax often and check the temperature as it should melt at around 160 degrees.
Step # 4. Now prepare the glass jar, string the wick through the wick tab if this is not already done for you and place the wick tab in the center of the glass jar.
Step # 5. If the wax is melted then you can add the color dye and the scented oil, make sure that you mix everything in well.
Step # 6. Now pour the wax in to the glass jar, take your time and be careful not to burn yourself. When this is done simply put the jar to the side for about 24 hours.
Step # 7. When the wax is dry simply trim the wick to a quarter of an inch and you are done with this candle making how to guide!
