Many people think that making candles is a complicated process that takes hours and hours to complete, well, they are right about it taking hours however you only have to work for less than an hour, all the rest is just waiting which leaves you free to do other things. If you want to know the basic candle making directions then read on as this article is going to go over everything that you need to know is simple and easy to understand steps. Are you ready to get started?

So where do these candle making directions begin? Well the first thing that needs to be done is gathering all of the equipment that you need. The materials and tools that you are going to use are: candle wax, wick, wick tab, a candy thermometer, a candle mold, vegetable oil, a carving knife, a double boiler, and a spoon. Once you have everything that you need the candle making process can begin.

So you are going to want to start with the wax as this is the part that is going to take the longest, all that you have to do is to take the knife and cut the wax in to chunks. Once this is done put the chunks in to the top pot of the double boiler and fill the bottom pot about half way with water. Now put the double boiler on the stove and bring the water to a boil. You are going to want to keep your eye on the wax and stir it often. Also, make sure that you check the temperature, the wax is going to be ready at around 160 degrees.

As the wax is melting you can get the mold ready for the wax. All that you have to do is to wipe the inside of the candle mold with the vegetable oil, this is important as it is going to make sure that the wax does not stick to the inside of the mold when it dries. Now string the wick through the wick tab if this is not already done for you and then place the wick tab in to the bottom of the mold, make sure it is centered. You are almost done with these candle making directions.

Now if the wax is ready you can pour it in to the candle mold, take it slow and steady. When you have finished pouring the wax put the candle mold someplace where it can dry and will not be disturbed by pets or children. Now you play the waiting game, wait 24 hours and when this time is up simply remove the candle from the mold and trim the wick to about a quarter of an inch. That is all, you are done with these candle making directions!
